On October 12, 2026, Surgsci supported a laparoscopic cholecystectomy at GFO Kliniken Niederrhein in Germany. The procedure was performed by Dr. Klaus Peitgen using Surgsci’s latest Integrated Ultrasonic Shears.
Dr. Peitgen is a Chief Physician in Visceral Surgery with more than two decades of experience in minimally invasive techniques. His use of the instrument provided an opportunity to observe its performance in a clinical setting, where controlled tissue dissection, effective hemostasis, and careful tissue handling are essential.
Following the procedure, Dr. Peitgen shared positive feedback on the instrument’s cutting speed, hemostatic performance, grasping force, and temperature during use. These observations offer valuable clinical feedback for Surgsci’s ongoing product development.
Integrated Design for Simplified Preparation
Surgsci Integrated Ultrasonic Shears combine the ultrasonic blade and transducer in a single, pre-assembled instrument. This design simplifies preparation by eliminating the need to assemble a separate blade and transducer before surgery.
The built-in, single-use transducer also eliminates transducer reprocessing between procedures, simplifying the instrument preparation workflow.
Precision and Versatility in Tissue Management
The instrument features a curved, tapered tip and slender jaw designed to facilitate access to tissue planes and support precise dissection. Its extended ultrasonic blade accommodates tissue bundles during grasping and transection.
Combining cutting, coagulation, and vessel sealing up to 7 mm, the shears support multiple tissue-management tasks with one instrument. Energy-control algorithms and structural optimization are designed to limit blade temperature and reduce mist formation during activation, helping maintain visibility in the surgical field.
Continuing Clinical Collaboration
Surgsci thanks Dr. Peitgen and the team at GFO Kliniken Niederrhein for their trust, collaboration, and professional feedback. Close communication with surgical teams helps us better understand clinical needs and continue refining our surgical energy solutions.
