Nationwide Expansion: Building a Multi-Center Evidence System
In the first half of 2025, the user service team of Shenzhen SurgSci Medical Technology Co., Ltd. continued its nationwide clinical support initiative, bringing the Chasing Light™ ultrasonic scalpel to hospitals across China. The team provided intraoperative support and surgical shadowing in over 120 medical institutions, completing more than 230 surgeries across six major regions: South China, East China, Central China, North China, Southwest, and Northwest. Coverage included more than 20 provinces and municipalities such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, and Inner Mongolia.
Partner institutions included top-tier tertiary hospitals, regional medical centers, maternal and child health hospitals, and traditional Chinese medicine hospitals. This broad and diverse clinical network laid a solid foundation for product optimization and surgical adaptation through real-world data and feedback. We sincerely thank all partner hospitals and frontline surgical experts for their trust and collaboration in validating and advancing high-end domestic surgical instruments.
Multi-Specialty, Multi-Technique, Real-World Challenges
The diversity of surgical procedures and broad clinical coverage are key indicators of product validation. In the first half of 2025, the Chasing Light™ ultrasonic scalpel underwent rigorous intraoperative testing across multiple regions and hospital tiers, facing real-world challenges from core surgical specialties.
Supported specialties included:
General Surgery
Thyroid and Breast Surgery
Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery
Gastrointestinal Surgery
Urology
Thoracic Surgery
Gynecology and Obstetrics
Breast Surgery
Cardiothoracic Surgery
Colorectal Surgery
Representative procedures:
Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic: Laparoscopic liver segmentectomy (S6), lesion excision, distal pancreatectomy, Whipple procedure, cholecystectomy, common bile duct repair
Gastrointestinal: Subtotal gastrectomy with jejunal anastomosis, sigmoid colon cancer resection, right hemicolectomy, rectal cancer resection, ileostomy reversal
Thyroid: Open and endoscopic bilateral thyroid cancer resection (oral and axillary approach), recurrent laryngeal nerve exploration
Gynecology: Total hysterectomy, bilateral adnexectomy, ovarian cystectomy, adenomyosis lesion excision with arterial ligation, vaginoplasty
Urology and Colorectal: Renal cyst decortication, ureteroscopic lithotripsy, rectosigmoid resection, mixed hemorrhoidectomy
Among these, the Whipple procedure stood out as a high-complexity surgery demanding exceptional precision, hemostasis, and tissue differentiation. The Chasing Light™ system demonstrated excellent control and thermal diffusion management, earning unanimous praise for its performance in dissection, sealing, and maintaining surgical visibility.
Comprehensive Performance Validation Across Procedures
The simultaneous deployment across multiple specialties and techniques tested the scalpel’s adaptability and validated its performance in:
Stable energy output and compatibility
Reliable tissue sealing and hemostasis
Responsive handling in complex surgical environments
Positive Clinical Feedback and Reliable Performance
Throughout each procedure, the SurgSci team maintained close communication with surgical teams, documenting performance and collecting feedback. Key highlights include:
Stable cutting and sealing performance across high-frequency procedures, with clean operation and minimal tissue adhesion
Comforta™ low-smoke mode significantly improved visibility in fatty or narrow surgical fields
Smooth device operation with low error rates and rare handpiece issues; software updates further improved compatibility
Low learning curve and intuitive handling; first-time users reported a natural and smooth experience
Increasing clinical acceptance; surgeons noted competitive cutting efficiency, tactile feedback, and overall system stability
Good compatibility with domestic surgical instruments such as staplers, trocars, and clips, enabling cost-effective intraoperative setups
