Live Surgery in Focus: LightChaser™ Ultrasonic Scalpel Showcases Smart Precision as the 11th GI Oncology Workshop Concludes Successfully

On June 21, 2025, the 11th Multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Oncology Standardized Diagnosis and Treatment Workshop successfully concluded in a vibrant academic atmosphere. This two-day event brought together China’s leading experts and scholars in the field of gastrointestinal oncology. Through in-depth presentations, discussions on cutting-edge technologies, and demonstrations of complex surgical procedures, the workshop focused on the latest breakthroughs in precision diagnosis and treatment of GI tumors.

As an innovative domestic medical device company, Surgsci Medical Ltd. was once again invited to participate in the event following its debut in 2024. Thanks to its leading technology and product performance, it once again drew significant attention at the venue.

▍Impressive Debut, Lasting Impression

At last year’s 10th edition of the workshop, Surgsci made its first appearance with its independently developed LightChaser™ Ultrasonic Scalpel and Disposable Laparoscopic Trocar (Balloon Type). During a 3D laparoscopic radical gastrectomy performed by renowned surgeon Professor Lu-Chuan Chen, the LightChaser™ demonstrated exceptional capabilities.

With its precise and efficient dissection and reliable hemostasis, it ensured an exceptionally clean surgical field and nearly bloodless specimen retrieval. Its outstanding performance received unanimous praise and recognition from attending experts, setting a new benchmark for domestically developed high-end energy devices.

▍Meticulous Dissection, Craftsmanship at its Finest

During this year’s highly anticipated live surgery session, Professor Chen again selected the LightChaser™ Ultrasonic Scalpel to perform a complex 3D total laparoscopic radical gastrectomy with complete mesogastrium excision. The operation was smooth and efficient, with the scalpel demonstrating its superior precision in tissue separation and robust real-time hemostatic capability—ensuring a clear surgical field and safe maneuverability.

Purpose-built for refined membrane-based dissection, the device provided reliable closure of microvessels while excising mesogastric tissues with speed, significantly enhancing surgical efficiency and visualization.

Notably, on this platform filled with global surgical brand names, the LightChaser™—representing China’s domestic innovation—matched the performance of internationally recognized devices. Under its exclusive low-smoke coagulation-cutting mode, it greatly reduced surgical smoke and improved field clarity, attracting significant attention and spirited discussion among on-site and online experts. Its exceptional showing once again affirmed its premium quality and capabilities.

▍AI-Powered Precision, Smart Surgical Control

The widely praised LightChaser™ embodies Surgsci’s core technological innovation. Merging achievements from national key R&D projects and major technology initiatives in Shenzhen, the system is built on years of technical expertise and fully proprietary development, creating a next-generation ultrasonic scalpel platform that integrates performance with intelligence.

It is equipped with a high-performance NPU processor delivering up to 3.6 TOPS of computing power, and integrates five AI-driven algorithms: adaptive cutting, severance prediction, metallic contact braking, high-temperature alert, and low-temperature cutting control. These features significantly enhance safety, precision, and surgical efficiency.

The system supports four cutting modes—Standard™ (fast coagulation), Comforta™ (low-smoke cutting), Sport™ (rapid cutting), and Turbo™ (ultra-fast cutting)—to accommodate diverse clinical demands including speed, stability, and optimal visualization. Through the synergy of smart algorithms and mode adaptability, the LightChaser™ advances minimally invasive procedures from “precise surgery” into the realm of “intelligent surgery.”

As the 11th workshop concluded successfully, Surgsci extended heartfelt gratitude to the organizers and experts for their trust and support. The company remains committed to advancing the field of minimally invasive surgery, continuously refining product performance and user experience. Surgsci looks forward to deeper collaboration with global medical professionals and institutions, working hand in hand to accelerate innovation and modernization in Chinese surgical technology—delivering more accessible, high-quality solutions worldwide to empower clinicians and benefit patients.
